Date and Venue

YERAC 2023 will be held at the Alan Turing Building at the University of Manchester from Tuesday 12 September - Friday 16 September 2023. We currently plan to start the meeting on Tuesday linchtime and finish on Friday lunchtime.

Fees, Funding, Visas and Travel Support

We expect to waive registration fees, but participants will have to cover their own accommodation and transport fees. To facilitate organising visas, please register and request a visa letter as soon as possible.

Getting here

To get here, it is easiest to fly into Manchester International Airport and get the train to Manchester Oxford Road or Manchester Victoria or Manchester Picadilly stations. All three take you into the centre of Manchester and take 20-25 minutes. The Alan Turing Building can be reached from any of the train stations, though it is closest to Manchester Oxford Road and Manchester Picadilly stations and takes 15-20 minutes to walk.

Excursion to Jodrell Bank Observatory

We plan an excursion to Jodrell Bank Observatory on Thursday 14 September to see the telescopes and visitor centre. We will be organising coaches to bring all participants from Manchester to JBO and back again.

Accommodation

Accommodation will need to be paid for by the participant. We have suggested hotels below, with prices correct up until the 7 July 2023:

Premier Inn Manchester City Centre (Princess Street) hotel (£63 per night (non refundable) or £78 (cancellation option))

Food and Drink in Manchester

We will be providing lunches throughout the week as well as teas and coffees. We plan to have a light conference meal as part of the visit to Jodrell Bank Observatory. We also plan to have a welcome reception evening. All other evenings participants can enjoy Manchester and find places to eat and socialise.
